HIGH PERFORMANCE PASTILLE PRODUCTION WITH BERNDORF BAND GROUP: DELIVERING QUALITY & RELIABILITY FOR CHEMICAL MANUFACTURERS

USA, March 2024 Resinas Brasil Industria E Comercio LTDA – Grupo RB (SOCER) was founded in 1992. A group of entrepreneurs with experience in the resin products market bound together to forge the company in the Chemical Industry. SOCER currently produces resins, rosin, turpentine, and other derivatives of this kind.

ENHANCING RESIN & ROSIN PROCESSING EFFICIENCY AT SOCER

SOCER was looking to produce the highest capacity of rosin and resin possible in the shape of pastilles and flakes, while maintaining the high quality of the product. Specifically, the company wanted to avoid product agglomeration on the production line by respecting the cooling curve. SOCER turned to Berndorf Band Group’s specialized chemical processing equipment for a reliable and efficient solution.

Product Testing at berndorf band group’s usa test center for custom solutions

Berndorf Band Group specializes in manufacturing equipment for chemical products and additionally provides testing capabilities in the U.S., Europe and Asia for their customers, to find tailored solutions for client production processes. To find the best solution, SOCER visited the Gilberts, IL test center to test their raw product and decide what Process Equipment to use and how to build it to fit their needs. The engineers at Berndorf Band Group worked to identify the dimensions and specifications necessary for the machinery to maintain the product’s quality, in terms of shape, friability, and discharge temperature.

tailored equipment for optimal chemical product pastillation

Berndorf Band Group worked closely with SOCER to select a combination of equipment suited for the challenges of chemical product pastillation. Each component – from feeding to cooling – was chosen to ensure product quality, consistent output, and minimal waste. Here is a breakdown of the key parts and how each one contributes to the optimized process:

Overflow Weir Feeder: Efficient Distribution Technology

The Overflow Weir Feeder is the piece of equipment that SOCER and Berndorf Band Group agreed would be a good fit for resin or rosin. As the liquid material fills up the reservoir of the Weir Feeder, it flows onto the Steel Belt then controls the level of liquid that is dispensed onto the belt by overflow. Thus, resulting in efficient use of product while maintaining a steady production capacity.

BernDrop® AD300 Pastillator: Consistent Pastille Formation

To produce uniformly shaped pastilles and avoid build up on the production line, SOCER opted for the BernDrop® AD300 pastillator. This type of pastillator is recommended for applications like resins and hot waxes because it includes a perforated shell and refeed bar. The refeed bar collects excess raw material to redistribute back into the holes of the shell, avoiding product waste and build up.

Single Belt Coolers: Controlled Cooling for Pastilles & Flakes

For superior product quality and high output, SOCER decided to purchase three Single Belt Coolers to produce pastilles and flakes on this unit. Berndorf Band Group Single Belt Coolers control the room conditions around the Steel Belt. Additionally, the cooling sections can be operated at different temperatures to process specific product cooling curves.

Nicro 31 Steel Belts: Corrosion-Resistant Surfaces for Resin & Rosin Production

The Nicro 31 Steel Belt was the option that SOCER chose, due to its raw chemical material advantages including a perfectly smooth and flat surface for the product to run on to prevent corrosion.

Nicro 31 Technical Information:

→ Tensile Strength

1080 N/mm2 at 20 °C | 156,600 psi at 68 °F

→ Fatigue Strength

480 N/mm2 at 20 °C | 69,600 psi at 68 °F

→ Maximum operating temperatures

350 °C | 662 °F

WHY SOCER CHOSE BERNDORF BAND GROUP CHEMICAL MANFUCATURING EQUIPMENT

Berndorf Band Group beat the competition when abiding by SOCER’s wishes in terms of production capacity and product quality. After the startup, the company was confident that they had acquired the best machines for this application in the market. The delivery time, production rates, and final product quality exceeded the company’s expectations.
