TEXTURED BELTS, TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGHS AND TAKING ON NEW MARKETS (2000-2006)
In 2000, Berndorf Band Group produced its first textured Steel Belt for the laminate industry, marking a new era in surface design and customization.
The company entered the Chinese market in 2002 with the establishment of Beijing Berndorf Technology Development China Co. The subsidiary specializes in the production of Steel Belts and Belt Systems, also offering ongoing maintenance services for equipment.
By 2006, the Berndorf Band Group developed a new grinding technology capable of processing Steel Belts up to 9 meters (29.53 feet) wide – an engineering feat that expanded possibilities across industries.
Also in 2006, Nippon Belting Co. (now Berndorf Band Japan Co.), closed their Osaka office, but the Tokyo office remained and production in Iwakuni continued to thrive, also offering its Test Center to customers for testing and product development.
ENGINEERING THE FUTURE: 2008 AND BEYOND
In 2008, Berndorf Band Engineering GmbH was founded in Berndorf, Austria, expanding the Steel Belt Systems business. Established from the former Machine Technology Department at Berndorf Band GmbH, this subsidiary now leads the planning and installation of customized Steel Belt Systems, including the Modular Double Belt Press and Steel Belt Casting and Drying Systems.
This marked the beginning of a new wave of innovation and expansion:
- 2009: Creation of the Belt Tracking Roller
- 2012: Manufacture and commissioning of the first Filter Membrane Casting and Drying System for medical applications
- 2012: Foundation of Berndorf Band Latinoamérica to serve the South American market from Columbia – supplying Steel Belts and Belt systems manufactured in the U.S. and offering comprehensive installation and maintenance services
- 2015: Delivery of the first Filter Membrane Casting and Drying System for the health industry
- 2015: Development of the Modular Double Belt Press, a flexible system combining heating and cooling modules for multi-industry use
MODERN INNOVATIONS: FROM COMPOSITE MATERIALS TO RECORD-BREAKING BELTS
Making headway in 2016, Berndorf Band Group increased the range of products offered for the laminate industry by acquiring assets for Belts.
In 2017, the first Modular Double Belt Press was delivered to produce composite materials, and protective foils were constructed for polished Steel Belts.
Expansion continued in 2018 as the Pilot Line Casting and Drying System was installed at Berndorf Band Engineering GmbH for testing products. This Single Belt System can process polymers at extremely high temperatures without a hitch and includes accessories that allow production of a variety of films, foils, and sintered products. Additionally, the business sector of Process Equipment, including machinery like Single and Double Belt Coolers, and Feeding Devices for chemical product processing, grew as the company maintained its status as a full-service supplier of Steel Belts, Belt Systems, and Worldwide Service.
The next year, in 2019, the group developed the “Algonkin Hickory” textured belt at 250µm depth for the laminate industry. Following in 2021, Berndorf Band Group delivered a Steel Belt for the wood industry of 180.270 mm/7097.24409 in, the longest in history thus far.
A GLOBAL FORCE: BERNDORF BAND GROUP TODAY
In early 2024, Berndorf Band India Private Limited became an official subsidiary. Located in Gujarat, the company provides Steel Belts, and Process Equipment as well as service for the chemical, wood, and food industries in India.
In the same year, Berndorf Band Group delivered the first Steel Belt with a multi-gloss effect for the laminate industry.
A LEGACY THAT SHAPES THE FUTURE
