What is the process of ABC analysis for direct and indirect environmental aspects?
ABC analysis is conducted regularly by in-house experts to identify and assess the environmental aspects and impacts of Berndorf Band GmbH products, services, and general activities. Each aspect is classified in one to three categories: A, B, or C:
- Category A: Significant environmental impact – assess and act immediately.
- Category B: Minor environmental impact – consider refinements and upgrades.
- Category C: No environmental impact – no action needed.
The type of aspect, direct or indirect, is considered to properly handle improvements in these areas.
- Direct environmental aspects: Aspects that can be controlled directly by management, including but not limited to services, products, and activities of the organization such as transport, waste and wastewater, atmosphere emissions, environmental accidents, and use of resources.
- Indirect environmental aspects: Aspects that cannot be controlled directly by management. These aspects can be a result of the environmental performance of a third party (e.g. contractors, suppliers, etc.) that the organization has been involved with and can be minorly impacted by the organization, like the life cycle of a product from raw material extraction to disposal, and so on.
